LAHORE, Jan 10: The Punjab government has extended the detention of Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and five others for 60 days.
The others are Col (retd) Nazir, Amir Hamza, Yasin Baloch, Mufti Abdur Rahman and Qazi Niaz.
The home department extended their detention after the expiry of the earlier order for a 30-day detention.
Police have sealed more than 50 offices and educational institutions of the Dawa across the province. Sources in the Punjab police told Dawn that the action had been taken following reports that some offices had been reopened by activists of the organisation.—Dawn Report
