LAHORE, Jan 7: Four sons of a 50-year-old man, who passed away in front of Queen Mary College, refused to accept his body owing to a domestic dispute. However, after an argument with locals for around two hours, they took the body of their father for funeral.

Edhi Ambulance Service officials said they were called by some locals of Garhi Shahu to attend the body of a man who expired naturally.

The ambulance staffers were informed by the locals that Sabir had been living alone in their locality for a long time and was a tailor by profession.

One of the residents told the ambulance staffers that the man had allegedly been expelled from his Railway Survey Colony residence by his wife and four children following a divorce/estrangement issue, and they were not accepting his body.

On the persuasion of the Edhi staffers, one of the residents again telephoned Sabir’s son who refused to take the body for burial with a plea that they had ejected Sabir from their house after he divorced their mother.

The body remained unattended for around two hours. However, after the intervention of Edhi staffers and locals, his sons arrived at the scene and accepted the body after an argument.

The locals said Sabir had informed them that he had not divorced his wife, who is employee of a Sardar Eye Hospital, Garhi Shahoo, while his sons claimed to the contrary. The ambulance later took the body to Sabir’s Railway Survey Colony residence.—Staff Reporter
