Train escapes disaster

SUKKUR, Jan 7: Rawalpindi-bound Quetta Express escaped a disaster when it collided with a tractor trolley at an unmanned railway crossing near Masoo Wah in the Mirpur Mathelo area on Tuesday night.

The train was on its way to Rawalpindi from Quetta. When it reached near Masoo Wah railway crossing, it rammed into a tractor trolley loaded with sugarcane as a result of which the tractor trolley was damaged and some of the passengers of the train received minor injuries.

On information, area police and railway officials rushed to the scene and cleared the track within an hour, after which the train left for its destination.

According to the police sources, the cane laden trolley had broke down in the middle of the railway crossing and seeing the approaching train, driver had fled.

However, on the complaint of railway officials Mirpur Mathelo police have registered a case against unidentified driver and impounded the trolley.

ARREST: An alleged bandit Younis Chachar was arrested after an encounter in Ludhar Bello near Mirpur Mathelo on Wednesday, police said.

According to the DPO Ghotki Jawed Jiskani, on a tip-off that

Younis Chachar along with his accomplices was hiding in Ludhar Bello, a heavy contingent of police raided and cordoned the area.

He said that on seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire, which was returned by the police and after a brief encounter police managed to arrest Younis Chachar, while his other accomplices managed to escape.

The DPO said that police have recovered a KK rifle and bullets from his possession. He said the arrested bandit was carrying a head money of Rs300,000 and was wanted in more than 20 cases of heinous crimes.

He said that the IG Police Sindh has announced cash reward of Rs200,000 for the police party.
