ISLAMABAD, Jan 6: A working group was constituted on Tuesday to prepare suggestions for implementation of the 7th Wage Board Award for newspaper employees.

The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman and attended by representatives of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation and senior officials of the ministries of information and labour.

The working group will submit its report to the information minister by Feb 10.

Ms Rehman told the meeting that the government was committed to the welfare of the journalist community and would take steps for promotion of a free and vibrant media and newspaper industry.
