Aurora FC beat Maymar Sports

KARACHI, Jan 5: Aurora FC beat District Central Maymar Sports 2-1 in the KASB Premier League Football (PLF) match played at the CDGK Stadium on Sunday.

But the win and the three points coming with it will not be of much use to Aurora as with just 18 points to their name, they are not included in the top eight teams to feature in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Maymar Sports already qualified for the final round with their 25 points giving them the fourth spot.

The match saw Maymar drawing first blood through their right-winger Nazeer Ahmed. Still they were left behind when Aurora scored two in the second half to come back into the game.

Aurora was awarded a penalty kick when defender Amin Khan tried stopping striker Akbar Shah through rough play inside the penalty area.

The kick was converted by midfielder Qurban Ali in the 60th minute.

The decider came in the 76th minute through striker Akbar Shah. The match witnessed a galore of admonishments and punishments when Aurora FC’s Mohammad Iftikhar and Maymar’s Nur Ali, Syed Mudassar and Manzoor were shown yellow cards. Aurora’s Danish Patni and Maymar’s Amin Khan were also sent off the field when Danish earned a red card and Amin a pair of yellows.

In the other match, Mauripur Baloch were awarded a walkover when opponents Hazara Mohammadan failed to show up on time. Chances for Mauripur to reach the top teams seem brighter now thanks to the three points and as many goals they earned as a result of the walkover.

They have 20 points now whereas Hazara Mohammadan are trailing way behind at number 13 with 11 points.
