KARACHI, Jan 5: An exciting encounter between Jan XI and Baloch Youth resulted in the former beating the latter 7-5 through penalty kicks in the All-Pakistan NBP Challenge Cup Football Tournament played at the Colony Sports Football Ground, Malir, on Monday.

Jan XI’s striker Arif scored in the fourth minute and right-winger Razzak Baba added another in the 20th.

But the second session saw Baloch Youth restoring parity through their left-winger Abdul Jabbar (67th min) and forward Amjad Ali (90th min).

Later Jam XI’s strikers Liaquat Ali, Abdul Majeed, Shahid Ali, Arif Ali and Shahnawaz Khan managed to convert all the five penalty kicks to take their team’s score to seven. Rustam Khan, Mohammad Yaseen and Aqeel Ahmed succeeded in scoring for Baloch Youth. The match was supervised by referee Aziz Pasha.

Tuesday’s fixture: Sahibdad Mohammadan v Golden Sports at 3.30pm.
