LAHORE, Jan 5: A group of 20 master trainers/veterinary officers from the Punjab Livestock Department has completed a training workshop on ‘Animal Nutrition’— the first programme of a series of workshops for the training of trainers (ToT) for capacity building of livestock professionals arranged by the faculty of life sciences business management of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

On the completion of the workshop, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz, Nutritionist Association of Pakistan president Dr Mussadiq Asif and dean Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha distributed certificates among training participants at a ceremony on the City Campus on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the vice-chancellor said the provision of proper nutrition to animals was vital to increase the livestock productivity in the country.

He said the university had a full-fledged department of food and nutrition to train human resources to meet the market needs in this aspect of livestock. The university is also imparting training in making balanced feed like silage, mineral mixture and other important feeds containing all nutrients.

Dr Nawaz said the academic programmes and services of the UVAS were driven by needs of the community and economy. “We are committed to bringing knowledge to the market through efficient human resource development,” he said.

The VC said the UVAS was setting up a modern infrastructure on the Ravi Campus, including academic departments, animal farms, research and training centres and other necessary facilities, for the training of human resource.—Staff Reporter
