Goldsmith killed on resistance

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 4: Two robbers shot dead a goldsmith who was running his business in Lahore and injured his colleague on offering resistance near Khori Stop on G.T. Road on Sunday.

Reports said goldsmith Umar Anwar and his colleague Zia were on their way to Gujranwala from Lahore by a car. Near Khori two outlaws stopped their car. Umar put up resistance on which the robbers opened fire, killing him and injuring Zia.

Muridke Saddar police are investigating.

ARMS RECOVERED: A traffic sub-inspector seized a car carrying weapons and arrested two men on Gujranwala Road on Sunday afternoon.

SI Naeem along with a team was deployed on Gujranwala Road to check traffic movement on account of Muharram. In the meantime, a speeding car (LHR-4512) passed along the road. The SI chased the vehicle by a motorbike and stopped it.

He recovered two Kalashnikovs, as many automatic guns and dozens of cartridges and arrested car riders Abid and Akhtar.
