MINGORA, Jan 4: The beheaded bodies of a Frontier Corps personnel and a policeman were found at two main squares of Mingora on Sunday.

The body of Frontier Crops personnel identified as Lice Naek Mai Khan was hanged with an electric pole at Suhrab Chowk while the body of kidnapped police Hawaldar Azizur Rehman was lying at the main Green Chowk till 11am despite heavy rains in the violence-ravaged Swat district.

The suspected militants slit the throats of both the personnel. Police Hawaldar Aziz was kidnapped by unidentified persons from Imam Dheri area, the former headquarters of hardliner cleric Mau-lana Fazlullah’s militant group.

Written notes were also found with the bodies which read: “The corpses would remain in open at the squares till 11am for public to learn a lesson. Those people who try directly or indirectly to lift the bodies will be dealt with sternly.”

A large number of the local people thronged the sqaures to see the bodies of the security forces personnel. However, later the security forces lifted the bodies and brought them to the police station. The bodies were dispatched to their home towns for burial.—Correspondent
