SUKKUR: Sukkur roads in a bad shape

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Dec 31: Most of the major roads of the city are in a bad shape and potholes have developed at many places due to which rain and drain water has accumulated, causing difficulties to commuters and pedestrians.

Due to negligence of the Sukkur district government and taluka municipal administration, roads and streets of entire city have turned into a mess and failure of sewerage system was adding to the misery of the people. The roads which are in worst condition are: Minara Road, Workshop Road, Queens Road, Barrage Road, Hussaini Road and Station Road where rain and sewerage water has become stagnant.

Due to the condition of the roads and open manholes, massive traffic jams have become a routine matter. Open manholes besides claiming a life, have left many injured. The TMA is totally ignorant about the problems of the people due to which a wav of resentment was prevailing among the people.

During a survey conducted in different localities people complained about the worst condition of roads, streets and sewerage system who alleged that the tax we are paying to the government was being spent upon the ministers instead of common men.

Supporting the statement of Sindh local government minister Agha Siraj Durrani about scrapping the local bodies system, the residents demanded of the government to revive commissioner system.
