KARACHI: Fog disrupts flight schedule

Published December 31, 2008

KARACHI, Dec 30: Foggy weather continued to affect air traffic on Tuesday as a majority of the flights originating from or coming to Karachi Airport were delayed for hours.

Fog engulfed the city in the early hours of Tuesday and lasted till 8am. The minimum ground visibility recorded was at 500 metres. Aviation sources said the arrival and departure of almost every domestic or international flight at Karachi was delayed by one to seven hours.

The delays caused severe hardship to a large number of passengers who had to wait for hours at the airport before leaving for their destinations.

A spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority told Dawn that at Karachi Airport no flight was cancelled or diverted to another station on Tuesday.
