Two gas pipelines blown up

Published December 30, 2008

QUETTA, Dec 29: Two pipelines supplying gas to the Sui purification plant from Pirkoh and Loti gas fields were blown up by militants early on Monday morning.

This is the third such incident in the area in 24 hours.

“The blast destroyed four- to five-foot-long portions of the pipelines,” official sources said.

Militants have recently increased attacks on pipelines, disrupting supply from 15 gas wells to the plant. The sources said the pipelines were being repaired and supply would resume by Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the roof of the house of a tribal elder, Shah Mohammad Denari Bugti, was destroyed when a rocket exploded in the Sui tehsil bazaar in the evening. No casualty was reported.
