SIALKOT, Dec 29: Sialkot-based permanent UN peace-keeping mission observers on Monday visited villages along the Sialkot Working Boundary.

According to official sources, the UN observers reviewed the situation in wake of mounting tension on borders between Pakistan and India.

Official sources said the observers also took views of the local villagers.

A team of local newsmen also visited the border villages whose inhabitants urged the international community to play its role in defusing tension between two nuclear neighbours.

Doing their daily chores and farming as a routine, they were however in high spirits and said they would stand behind the armed forces in case of any aggression

Villagers in Raja Harpal sector and Bajwat’s villages of Phookaliyaan, Papeen, Saddarpura, Gondal, Saidpur and Chhumb Joriyaan said the defence of Pakistan was in strong hands.

Some of them were worried over prospects of displacement in this harsh weather in case of any conflict.

FOG: Heavy fog enveloped the district on Monday, disrupting all road, rail, and air traffic and bringing the life to a standstill.

SCCI: The German Embassy in Islamabad on Monday organised an `energy exhibition’ on energy and renewable energy at the local chamber.

Several German companies displayed their CDs, books and other related material in the exhibition.

Mr Andreas Dauth, Third Secretary of German Embassy in Islamabad, inaugurated the exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, he offered technical assistance through the German energy and renewal energy experts to enable Pakistani businessmen to cope with the burning issue of energy crisis.
