GUJAR KHAN, Dec 27: Nasir Khan Durrani, regional police officer (RPO) Rawalpindi has suspended sub-inspector Liaqat Ali after he was found guilty of giving undue favours to murder accused and asked him to report to police lines.

Ghulam Murtaza resident of Gujar Khan on an application to the RPO complained that Liaqat All sub inspector of Gujar Khan PS has been giving undue favours to the accused party and giving false statements in court for ulterior motives.

Allegedly he was trying to damage the merits of the murder case registered in 2004 under section 302/34 PPC in Gujar Khan police station.

Meanwhile, Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) issued show cause notices to seven police officials of Gujar Khan police station.

Police sources the officials including sub inspectors and the assistant sub inspectors posted at Gujar Khan police station did turn up at a meeting summoned by DSP Mirza Jameel Baig to review crime situation.

The police sources said these officials were informed about the meeting. DSP Mirza Jameel Baig issued show cause notices to Jawaid Iqbal, sub-inspector; Mohammad Nawaz, sub-inspector; Mohammad Fraz, sub-inspector; Farrakh Saghir, ASI; Liaqut Ali, ASI; Zaheerudin, ASI and Mohammad Ejaz ASI.

PO HELD: The Gujar Khan police arrested two proclaimed offenders Khaliq Dad and Yasir Hussain, four court absconders Zubair Ahmed, Mohammad Aslam, Mohammad Shafiq and Mohammad Saeed a military deserter Usman Ali.

The police also claimed to have recovered five bottles of liquor and an unlicensed pistol two outlaws.

GAMBERS HELD: The local police claimed to have arrested four alleged gamblers from Gujar Khan city on Friday. These accused have been identified as Mohammad Nazir, Yasir Mahmood, Nisar Ahmed and Abdul Hafeez.
