QUETTA, Dec 27: Balochistan Assembly’s Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhootani has taken serious notice of stopping of construction work on the National Highway near Uthal area of Lasbela on the orders of a senior police officer.

He said the issue would be taken up in the next session of the assembly.

According to reports, the official vehicle of the police officer which was being driven by his son was damaged when it collided with a pile of stones lying on the roadside.

The police officer who was in another vehicle became furious and ordered the Lasbela police to arrest the contractor, stop construction work and take all machinery into custody.

Mr Bhootani who was elected member of the provincial assembly from the area took up the issue with Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani.

In a statement, Mr Bhootani said that work on various road projects had already been suspended in Balochistan and the Winder-Uthal highway was the only section where construction work was in progress.
