PESHAWAR, Dec 26: Unidentified militants blew up an internet café and adjacent shops in the Gunj area here early Friday morning.

Area people said six shops were damaged in the blast. Wind-owpanes of several nearby houses in the Mawatyan locality were also smashed. The locals said the explosion occurred at about 4.30am.

A police official said a remote-control device had been planted in the internet café, which was exploded at a time when most of the people were asleep. Café owner Javaid said he neither had any enmity nor anyone had sent him threats to close the business. The Kotwali police registered a case against unidentified accused.

BATKHELA: A music centre was blown up in the Dargai bazaar early Friday morning.

Some outlaws had planted an IED at the CD centre, which blew up, destroying the centre. Several adjoining shops were also damaged. Aselzada, the owner of the music centre, had received threats from suspected militants, warning him of dire consequences if he did not switch over to some other business. —Dawn Report
