KARACHI: Ulema pledge to promote peace
KARACHI, Dec 23: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that all segments of society will have to work together to maintain unity, sectarian harmony and law and order in Muharram.
The prevailing conditions this year were somehow different than the previous year’s which warranted formation of prior strategy and demonstration of complete understanding by all segments of society, he said while addressing religious scholars belonging to different sects at the Governor’s House on Tuesday.
Senator Abbas Kumeli, Maulana Shah Turabul Huq, Haji Hanif Tayyab, Mufti Munibur Rehman, Qari Mohammed Usman, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, CCPO Waseem Ahmed, Deputy Director-General Rangers Brig Latif attended the meeting.
The Ulema expressed their resolve to promote peace and maintain an atmosphere of unity and brotherhood during Muharram. They said they would maintain complete sectarian harmony and resolve all outlying issues with mutual consultation. “It is the desire of all Ulema that an atmosphere of understanding is maintained between all schools of thought and Muharram passes with complete peace,” the governor was informed.
Dr Ibad appealed to people to avoid all such things which could cause heart burning to any sect. He appreciated the cooperation of Ulema in the efforts to maintain law and order and hoped that such an environment of peace, love and brotherhood would be maintained in future as well.
Inter-provincial issues
Balochistan Governor Nawab Aslam Raisani met Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad at the Sindh Governor’s House on Tuesday.
They discussed inter-provincial issues related to coordination and harmony and exchanged views on providing facilities to people in various sectors.—APP
