Canal bridge collapses

Published December 22, 2008

SANGHAR, Dec 21: Vehicular traffic between Sanghar and Tando Mitha Khan was disrupted when a major portion of the bridge over Nara-Qazak Canal collapsed on Sunday. People fear that the remaining portion of the bridge may also collapse.

Heavy traffic was diverted through Sindhri which means an extra journey of 80 kilometres for those travelling between Sanghar and Khipro or Achhro Thar.

Mir Nizamani and other residents of the area said that they had informed the authorities concerned about the dilapidated condition of the bridge and called for its repair but to no avail. They sarcastically said that perhaps the authorities were waiting for any causality.
