KARACHI, Dec 19: Two cases of polio were found in Hyderabad and Peshawar on Friday, raising to 111 the number of victims of the dreaded virus this year -- 17 of them in Sindh and 49 in the NWFP.

Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmad said that 18-month-old boy Sameeullah, of Hyderabad, was confirmed by the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, on Thursday to have been paralysed.

He said the boy had a history of three doses of routine vaccines against preventable diseases and four supplementary polio immunisation doses. According to NIH sources, 17-month-old girl Noreen, of Peshawar, had the onset of polio on Dec 1.
