KARACHI: Wet spell nears end
KARACHI, Dec 19: The city remained in the grip of a western depression on Friday, with the Met department recording up to 19mm (0.75in) of rain on Sharae Faisal as of 8pm on Friday evening. Met department officials expect the current spell of light to moderate rain/thunderstorms to last for the next 24-36 hours, after which the weather system is expected to move further north and exit Sindh.
The minimum recorded temperature on Friday was 16 degrees Celsius, with the mercury touching 19.5 degrees during the warmer parts of the day. Rain was recorded across the city, with 13mm (0.51in) recorded at the Quaid-i-Azam International airport and 10mm (0.39in) at Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Karachi on Saturday, but for the most part the rain is expected to remain light/moderate. The minimum temperature is expected to range between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of around 18 degrees, according to Met department officials.
Rain/thunderstorms have also been forecast for other parts of Sindh, where it continued to rain on Friday.—AH
