LAHORE, Dec 18: While regretting India’s decision of cancelling the Pakistan tour, former Pakistan captain and coach Intikhab Alam termed it a ‘double-standard’ which may result in isolation for Pakistan cricket.

“Though the BCCI did not cancel the tour, and has postponed it, the way England team returned to India to resume their tour, despite the Mumbai attacks, concerns over playing in Pakistan due to security is something like double-standard by some teams,” Intikhab said while answering a question after the BCCI informed the PCB about the postponement of the tour on Thursday.

Intikhab further said that the PCB, BCCI and Pakistan government all were showing interest in the tour, but, he added, the Indian government thought otherwise, and it was disappointing.

While evaluating Sri Lanka, who have been invited for a full tour by the PCB to replace India, Intikhab thought both the teams had different strengths, noting he had to devise another strategy for Sri Lanka if they visit Pakistan.

“Sri Lanka have a quality spin attack and batting order, but Pakistan also have a strong side to give them a tough time,” he said.

Agencies add: Intikhab said it was a shame that Pakistan fans would not get the chance to witness what is always a keenly anticipated series against India.

“It’s really unfortunate and both people of Pakistan and players of our team are disappointed,” Intikhab said.

“I hope once things improve they might send their team to play against us. We have to move ahead and I hope the series against Sri Lanka will be finalised in a few days’ time.”
