RAWALPINDI, Dec 18: District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) Attaullah Kosar here on Thursday directed the superintendent and doctor of Adiala Jail to appear in the court on Saturday and explain as to why a fake medical report was submitted regarding the alleged torture on an undertrial prisoner.
The judge summoned both jail officials after he personally examined the torture victim, a teenage boy, and found bruises on his back. The jail doctor had said in his the findings that the boy was not tortured.
Tariq Pervaiz Janjua, the counsel for 19-year-old Raheel, told Dawn that the court sought the medical report of the undertrial after he moved an application seeking registration of a criminal case against the police officials for torturing his client.
Robina, the mother of Raheel, who was booked by the Waris Khan police in a criminal case for attempted murder, moved the court alleging her son was tortured by some jail officials on the orders of a deputy superintendent jail after they failed to recover a mobile phone from his custody. The victim said he never had a mobile phone with him in the jail.
The woman, in her complaint, maintained that her two other sons were murdered by some influential people three years ago and one of them had been awarded death sentence, while two others had been declared proclaimed offenders.She alleged the influential people were behind the current predicament and prayed for legal action against the tormentors.
Meanwhile, an additional district and sessions judge awarded life imprisonment to a man for murdering a woman in Chontra and sentenced his accomplice to 10 years in prison.
Judge Mohammad Masroor Zaman handed down life term to Jamil Akhtar and 10-year imprisonment to Javaid Iqbal for killing Barsi Khan at her house three years ago.
