GUJRAT, Dec 14: Former MNA and the member of the federal council of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Mian Mushtaq Husain Pagganwala died of a cardiac arrest at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Kharian on Sunday evening. He was the head of the famous Pagganwala family of Gujrat and remained the PPP Gujrat district president for 18 years. He became the MNA in 1977 by defeating Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi. The daughter-in-law of Mian Mushtaq, Samina Fakhar Pagganwala, was elected MNA on the reserved seat for women in the Feb 18 elections.

The funeral prayer of the Pagganwala is likely to be held on Tuesday as his son Mian Fakhar Pagganwala and Samina Pagganwala are in Saudi Arabia to perform Haj and they are scheduled to return to Pakistan on Dec 16.—Correspondent
