Bridegroom, 19 others hurt in accident

GUJRANWALA, Dec 13: As many as 20 passengers, including a bridegroom, were injured when the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck on Alipur Road on Saturday.

Reports said a wedding procession was on its way to Gujranwala when their bus collided with a truck. As a result, bridegroom Imdad Husain and others, including Shahid, Zulfiqar, Nasir, Ghulam, Abbas, Afzal, Nasir and Iqbal, were injured.

A Rescue 1122 team shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital.

SHOT DEAD: A milkman was shot dead by some unidentified person(s) near Pirkot on Saturday. Muhammad Saleem, a resident of Uggo Chak, was going to deliver milk to his customers when he was shot.

The Qila Deedar Singh police registered a case.

Meanwhile, robbers shot at and injured a postmaster on Mubarak Shah Road. Attaur Rehman, the postmaster of Mubarak Shah Road post office, was working along with his colleagues when two armed men stormed into the office and injured him as he resisted their bid to bag cash. They, however, fled empty-handed.

The People’s Colony police instituted a case.

CASE: The Qila Deedar Singh police on Saturday registered a case against two persons who were charged with ‘damaging’ 18 graves in a cemetery at Tauheedpura, Qila Deedar Singh.

Nazar Masih filed a complaint with police that two persons, Ali Naqi and Hasan Raza, had damaged 18 graves.

PROTEST: The Gujranwala Contractors Association on Saturday demonstrated against the arrest of their colleagues in Faisalabad and Multan.
