KHAIRPUR, Dec 13: A presidential candidate for Khairpur District Bar Association, Abdul Qayoom Shaikh, said that the Pakistan People’s Party’s leadership committed injustice by not nominating him for the post of president.
Speaking to reporters after attending a meeting at the DBA office, he said that neglecting a working lawyer and a party worker would create disappointment among others.
Mr Shaikh is the elected leader of opposition in District Council Khairpur for the PPP-backed Awam Dost panel. However, after not getting nominated as the presidential candidate of the PPP-backed panel for the bar elections, he has formed his own panel under the name of Al-Haq panel.
He said that during the dictatorship of Pervez Musharraf, he played an active role in lawyers’ movement and discharged his duties with full responsibility.
He expressed his surprise that a sitting MPA was nominated for the post of president in DBA elections by the PPP.
PML-F backed candidate for the post of president, Shafqat Hussain Mahessar, pulled out of the election race in favour of Abdul Qayoom Shaikh and also offered him his support.
