MINGORA, Dec 12: A high school building and the residence of a legislator belonging to Awami National Party were blown up in Swat late on Thursday night.

According to sources, militants had planted explosives in the residence and hujra of MNA Muzaffarul Mulk Khan in Manglawar, a few kilometres from Mingora.

It may be mentioned that Mr Mulk and his family have already shifted to Islamabad.

A powerful blast destroyed the government school building in Kumber area, about two kilometres from here.

Around 125 school buildings have so far been destroyed in Swat district. Of them 80 schools were for girls and 45 for boys.

Meanwhile, a heavy exchange of fire took place between militants and security forces in the Dehri area after a security checkpost situated in a government school building came under attack. The exchange of fire continued for several hours.

Sources said that an 11-year-old boy was killed and four women were injured when artillery shells hit residential areas.

A seven-year-old girl was injured when a shell hit her house in the Kandaro Chaman area of Matta tehsil.

All the injured were taken to the Saudi Hospital.
