KARACHI: Disrupted BCom exams resume tomorrow

KARACHI, Dec 11: The Karachi University has announced that the BCom annual examinations-2008 will resume on Saturday (Dec 13) as per the original programme.
A spokesman for the university on Thursday recalled that the exams, disrupted by the recent violence in the city, had been postponed on Dec 3 and were to resume after the Eid holidays.
The postponed papers have since been rescheduled and notified.
Dates extended
Candidates who have been admitted to the BS (Hon) programme at Karachi University may submit their fees from Dec 12 to 16 at any designated branch of United Bank Limited, according to a KU statement issued on Thursday, add agencies.
Any student failing to deposit the fees will have the offer of admission withdrawn, with no possibility of claims being made. The list of valid claims for BS (Hon) first year has been issued and the selected candidates have been directed to contact the admission committee regarding fee submission between Dec 12 and 16, during bank timings.
The 16 designated UBL branches are: Binnori Town branch (Guru Mandir), Defence Garden branch (Phase I), University Road branch (near Masjid Bait-ul-Mukarram, New Karachi branch, Haideri branch (near police station), Raheemabad branch, Hamid Square branch in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Block III, Bahadurabad branch, Drig Colony branch (near A-1 hospital), Malir Township branch, Landhi Industrial area branch, Nazimabad Chowrangi branch, Saeedabad branch, Azam Town branch, Boat Basin branch and Frere Street branch.
Evening programme
Karachi University has extended the dates for admission and aptitude tests for its evening programme.
Director of the evening programme Prof Dr Abuzar Wajidi announced on Thursday that the dates for admissions to the MCS, MBA, BS and certificate programmes had been extended.
Admission forms and booklets for these programmes will be issued at a cost of Rs500 at the UBL’s Silver Jubilee Gate and campus branches from Dec 12 to 16 from 9:30am to 3.30pm and 3:30 pm to 7:30pm, respectively.
The forms will be accepted at the Silver Jubilee Gate from 9:30am to 3:30pm and at the directorate’s office from 3:30pm to 7:30pm.
Prof Wajidi clarified that aptitude tests for MCS, BSCS, BSSE and MBA, earlier scheduled to be held on Dec 14, would now be held on Dec 19. The MCS, BSCS and BSSE tests would be held at 10am and the MBA test at 3:00pm, at the Faculty of Arts.
The final results of these tests would be displayed at the Silver Jubilee Gate on Dec 24, he added.
Fuuast admissions
The last date for admissions to the BS and Masters (morning) programmes at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology for the academic year 2009 is December 15, according to a university spokesman.
He said that the admission forms (along with the prospectus) were available at the designated branches of the National Bank, United Bank and Allied Bank. The forms could be submitted at the same branches, he added.
