TIMERGARA, Dec 7: The Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao (PPP-S) has demanded of the government and military authorities to declare ceasefire during Eidul Azha in the volatile regions of Swat, Bajaur and Waziristan so that people could celebrate the festival.

Provincial general secretary of PPP-S and former provincial minister Bakht Baidar Khan made the demand while addressing a public gathering at Khairabad Adenzai on Sunday which was attended by party workers and elders of the area.

Timergara tehsil nazim Mohammad Umar, Mohammad Ishaq and others also addressed the gathering.

Three local government councillors, belonging to the PPP -- Mohammad Wahid, Mohammad Khan and Fazal Syed -- resigned from the party and announced to join the PPP-Sherpao along with their families on the occasion.

Mr Baidar Khan criticised the ANP-led provincial government for its failure to restore peace and resolve people’s problems. He alleged that Pakhtuns were being killed in Karachi but the ANP had sealed its lips to stop the MQM from its brutality.

The PPP-S leader demanded of the federal government to stop the MQM from its ‘machinations’ in Karachi so that ‘innocent’ Pakhtuns could take sigh of relief to earn their livelihood.

TNSM PROTEST: Tehrik Nefaz-i-Shariat-i-Muhammadi (TNSM) chief Maulana Sufi Mohammad has reiterated that the protest camp set up at the rest house ground Timergara would continue till their demand of establishing sharia in Malakand division was accepted by the government. He said they would spend the Eidul Azha in the camp.
