KARACHI: MQM-ST agreement welcomed

KARACHI, Dec 7: The deputy chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, has welcomed an agreement reached between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Sunni Tehrik under which the parties have decided not to fight over hides of sacrificial animals on Eid.

However, the JI leader has condemned the trend of making out receipts in advance to the people for collecting sacrificial animals’ hides by using force.

Prof Ghafoor was addressing a press conference at Idara Noor-i-Haq on Sunday.

According to the said agreement, the MQM and ST have agreed that they would not snatch sacrificial animals’ hides from each other.

Prof Ghafoor said that ensuring adherence to the code of conduct for peaceful collection of hides by different parties was the responsibility of the ruling alliance. He also demanded that annual audit should be made compulsory for welfare organisations collecting hides.—Staff Reporter
