KARACHI, Dec 7: The Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) have asked people to remove all barricades put up to block roads and streets within the next three days on their own.
The Rangers would act to remove the same after the deadline, they said, adding that they had been given special powers by the federal government for maintaining law and order.
The Rangers have advised people of Karachi to approach the Rangers (Sindh) headquarters at 9205283 and 9203007, sector headquarters Sachal Rangers at 6817452, sector headquarters Bhittai Rangers at 9248932 or Abdullah Shah Ghazi Rangers at 4389557 and 4389559 for help in any emergency.
A meeting chaired by Director-General of Rangers Maj-General Liaquat Ali was held on Sunday at the headquarters of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh). It reviewed the arrangements made for maintaining law and order during Eidul Azha.
City police chief (CCPO) Wasim Ahmed, DIGs and SSPs of all three police zones, as well as other senior officials of police and Rangers attended the meeting.
The two agencies decided to allow collection of hides and skins of sacrificial animals during Eid days only by those who possessed the mandatory permission granted by the district coordination officer (DCO). They also decided to take action against anyone found violating the relevant rules or trying to collect hides and skins forcibly.
They further decided to start conducting joint flag march from Sunday and keep the forces on high alert.
It was made clear that display of licensed arms would not be allowed during the Eid days in the light of the special orders issued by the federal and provincial governments. The agencies warned that violators of the orders would be dealt with strictly.—Agencies
