BADIN, Dec 6: Speaker National Assembly and acting president, Dr Fehmida Mirza has said that government was working hard to make the country prosperous and strong.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of rail service between Badin and Hyderabad here on Saturday, she said that during 1994-95, natural gas in Badin was considered almost impossible but now this demand was fulfilled and gas was provided to the people.

She said that restoration of rail services to district, considered a miracle, was also made possible through sincere efforts made by this government.

She emphasised the need for keeping political differences aside and back the government in the interest of the country which was facing a difficult situation.

She said that given its importance from defence and agriculture point of view, Badin should be given priority in development schemes and clean drinking water should be provided to the people of the district specially in the rural areas.

She said that women police stations would be set-up at taluka level to provide justice to women.

Later, she distributed Benazir Income Support cheques and handed over railway tickets to passengers.

State Minister for Railways, Faqir Jadam Mangrio, provincial ministers Pir Mazharul Haq, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and Zubair Khan also spoke. She inaugurated women cell at model police station and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto park in Badin.
