KARACHI: Shifting of nine exam centres notified

KARACHI, Dec 6: The University of Karachi has notified shifting of the nine examination centers (seven male and two female centers) for the candidates taking the degree class examinations.

A decision to this effect had been taken earlier following complaints conveyed to the KU administration by the candidates who said they would face immense hardship in reaching their allocated centres and returning home because of the long distance between their residences and the centres.

According to KU controller of examinations Prof Maqsood Hussain, seven examination centres (for male candidates) have been shifted to different departments and gymnasium of the university.

Following is the list of originally allocated centres with the name of the department/hall notified as exam centre:

Pakistan Ship-owners Govt College, North Nazimabad: Department of Physiology, Faculty of Science;

Govt Degree Science and Commerce College, Orangi Town: Department of Health and Physical Education, Faculty of Arts;

Haji Abdullah Haroon Govt College No.2, Shah Waliullah Road, Khadda: Department of General History, Faculty of Arts;

Govt Degree Boys College, Gulzar-i-Hijri: Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science;

Nabi Bagh Govt College: Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Arts;

Govt National College No.2, off Shaheed-i-Millat Road: KU Gymnasium

Govt Premier College No.2, Block H, North Nazimabad: Department of Special Education, Sheikh Zayed Islamic Research Centre.

All students of the Govt Degree Science and Commerce College No.2, Orangi Town (bearing seat Nos. 840217 to 840290, 859582 to 859589 and 880567 to 880642) have also been allocated the Department of Special Education, Sheikh Zayed Islamic Research Centre, as their exam centre. However, the centre allocated to the candidates bearing seat Nos. 838173 to 838300, 878796 to 878881, 840291 to 840399, 880643 to 880734, 858964 to 888983 and 859590 to 859642 has remained unchanged, i.e. Govt Premier College No.2.

The female candidates who had originally been allocated Abdullah Govt College for Women, North Nazimabad, and the Khursheed Govt Girls Degree College, Shah Faisal Colony, have been allocated the Shaheed-i-Millat Govt Degree College for Women, Azizabad, and the Sir Syed Govt Girls College, Nazimabad, respectively, as their examination centres.

Meanwhile, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi has notified regular and private candidates of science and general groups that the date for acceptance of examination forms for the SSC Part-II (Class X) Annual Examinations-2009 has been extended, agencies add.

The controller of examinations on Saturday announced that exam forms would be accepted without late fee up to Dec 24. The forms would also be accepted between Dec 26 and Jan 3, 2009 with a late fee of Rs200 and from Jan 5 to Jan 12 with a late fee of Rs500. The examination forms will be accepted from Jan 13 to Jan 20 with a late fee of Rs1,000 and from Jan 21 to Jan 31 with a late fee of Rs1,500.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Board of Technical Education, Karachi has announced that the papers of supplementary examination of TSC Part-I and -II and DBA Part-I and -II postponed on Dec 1, 2 and 3 would now be held on Dec 16, 17 and 18, respectively.
