SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 4: “The present rulers have given nothing to the nation except lawlessness, price hike, unemployment and loadshedding while in our five-year tenure hundreds of mega projects were finalised.”

This was stated by former chief minister and PML-Q leader, Pervaiz Elahi, while addressing a workers’ convention at the residence of MPA Munawar Husain Manj here on Thursday.

Mr Elahi along with former provincial ministers Raja Basharat, Chaudhry Zaheer, Amer Sultan Cheema and others was given a rousing welcome on his arrival here.

“The PML-N and PPP have no agenda to serve the nation because the leaders of both the parties lack wisdom and vision of good governance,” he said.

He vehemently criticised the government policies, saying that neither the federal nor the Punjab governments had any plan to make the country prosperous and self-reliant. Both the parties in their election campaigns had promised to bring the prices of eatables at the 1995 level whereas the situation is altogether different now.

“The people are seen standing in queues to get flour and other commodities. They have started saying that the previous government was far better than the present.”

Elahi alleged that both Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif had deposited billion of rupees with banks abroad.

He said: “If both are so sincere and loyal to the country they should bring all their wealth here.”

Elahi said the PML-Q had launched a mass contact programme and soon it would emerge as the largest political party in the country.

Ex-MNA Khurram Munawar Husain Manj, Raja Basharat, Moonis Elahi, Munawar Manj and others also addressed the convention.

KILLED: Seven people, including Sharif and Liaquat, killed a woman, Nafisa, at Adiaan village over a land dispute. The Narang police are investigating.
