Prices of sacrificial animals plummet

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 2: Law and order situation of Karachi has affected the cattle piri here also as the prices of sacrificial animals have registered a sharp decline.

Owners of sacrificial animals were in panic here as they were unable to transport their animals to Karachi for sale in the backdrop of violence in Karachi.

In local cattle piri, prices of sacrificial animals had decreased and those who wanted to go to Karachi with their cattle were disturbed and awaiting for normality in Karachi.

Cattle owners Mohammad Akbar, Abdul Rasheed, Mohammad Akram, Mohammad Jameel and others maintained that they had grown sacrificial animals after investing huge amounts on them.

“We were about to shift our cattle to Karachi where violence erupted all of a sudden and despite passage of four days situation do not seem to be improved”, they added.

They deplored that due to Karachi situation, rate of the sacrificial animals have decreased and people were not bringing their cattle in the local cattle piri for sale due to declining trend in prices. They said that they would wait until peace returns to Karachi before Eidul Azha.

TRAINING: Director -General Sindh Civil Service Local Government Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi has said that knowledge of the nazims would be increased with specialised training which concluded here on Tuesday. The training was held in cooperation with the UNDP. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of two days training programme of taluka and union council nazims here on Tuesday. He said that suggestions given by nazims during this programme would be submitted to higher authorities.
