Walk to raise awareness about AIDS

LAHORE, Dec 1: Punjab Excise and Taxation Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman led a walk to create awareness about HIV/AIDS among truck drivers and cleaners at Badami Bagh Truck Stand here on Monday.

The walk was organised by the Lahore Hamrahi Markaz of the Pakistan Truckers Project of National Aid Control Programme in connection with the World AIDS Day.

Project Director Dr Hasan Raza said that Hamrahi Markaz had been established in nine cities to educate truck drivers and cleaners about prevention of HIV/AIDS.

All Pakistan Goods Transport Workers Federation President Rafiq Qureshi said that 33,699 drivers and cleaners had been educated about the HIV/AIDS. Over 600 drivers and cleaners were working on behavioural change communication as volunteers with Hamrahi Markaz, Lahore, he added.
