KHAR, Dec 1: Five militants were killed and several injured as security forces continued military operation in troubled areas of restive Bajaur tribal region on Monday.

The security forces, backed by helicopter gunships and artillery, pounded suspected militant hideouts in Nawagai and some areas of Khar including Baicheena and Kawsar killing five militants and injuring several others.

The political administration blocked Khar-Tangi bypass road on Monday and deployed security forces and Levies personnel on the 12-kilometre long road. The local people were told not to use the road as the troops had been given shooting order.— Correspondent
