LAHORE, Nov 30: Trials to select regional teams for the forthcoming Quaid-i-Azam Trophy will be held across the country from Wednesday to Saturday (Dec 3-6).

The final dates for the prestigious event are yet to be announced.

According to the details, the Pakistan Cricket Board had nominated the members of its national senior and junior selectors as heads of the regional committees to select the teams. These selectors will be assisted by their regional counterparts to finalise the teams.

Chief selector Abdul Qadir, however, has not been appointed to any of the regional committees.

National senior selector Saleem Jaffer with local selectors Sadiq Mohammad and Rahat Ali Shah will conduct the trials of Hyderabad region at the Sindh University, Jamshoro on Wednesday.

Saleem will also select the Multan region team on Friday along with Manzoor Elahi and Altaf Hussain at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Similarly, national junior selector Basit Ali along with Abdur Rehman and Asif Baloch will hold trials for the Quetta region at the Bugti Stadium in Quetta on the same day.Farrukh Zaman, another member of the junior committee, Shahid Anwar and Naeem Gulzar will conduct the trials of the Sialkot region at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot, also on Wednesday.

For the Lahore region, Shoaib Mohammad, member of the national selection committee, Naveed Anjum, Sajjad Akbar and Aamir Hayat Rokri will hold trials at the LCCA Ground on Thursday.

Head of the junior selection committee Mohammad Ilyas will be selecting the Karachi region squad at the PCB Academy Ground on Friday He will be assisted by Jalaluddin, Azam Khan and Zafar Ahmed.

The schedule and selectors of other regions are as follows:

Faisalabad Region (Wednesday, Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad): Ali Ahmed (chairman), Wasim Haider, Hamid Mansoor Nagri (members).

Abbotabad Region (Friday, Gohati Stadium, Swabi): Asif Baloch (chairman), Shaukat Mirza, Anwar Zeb Jan (members).Islamabad Region (Friday, Diamond Club Ground): Ali Ahmed (chairman) Taimur Azam, Col Naushad Ali.

Rawalpindi Region (Friday, KRL Stadium): Farrukh Zaman (chairman), Sabih Azhar, Javed Akhtar (members).

Peshawar Region (Saturday, Arbab Niaz Stadium): Chaudhry Afzal (chairman), Akhtar Sarfraz, Anwar Zeb Jan (members).—Sports Reporter
