Woman dies, over 20 hurt in accident

SUKKUR, Nov 30: A woman died and 20 people suffered injuries in a road accident on the National Highway near Fatima Farm near Rohri late on Saturday night.

According to reports reaching here, a passenger coach coming from Karachi overturned and fell into a ditch near Fatima Farm after its tie-rod had broken. The woman Ms Rukhsana, wife of Khalid Jawed, died and 20 people, were injured. They were taken to the taluka hospital in Rohri.

The injured included: Sana Erum daughter of Khalid Jawed, Shamim Akhtar, Ali Khan Soomro, Amanullah, Akhtar Mohammad, Abdul Khaliq, Sher Mohammad, Abdul Rehman, Zulfiqar.

RAID: In an extensive operation against criminals, the Ghotki police raided Sarohi in Yaroo Loond village on Sunday morning and seized a tractor, two motorcycles, a rifle and a gun, but failed to arrest anyone because the criminals had been informed before hand by a policeman.

A heavy contingent of police led by the SPO Mirpur Mathelo Abdul Khaliq Wagan raided and cordoned Sarohi village conducted a house-to- house search and recovered the tractor, two motorcycles, a rifle and a gun but failed to arrest any criminal.

The SPO Mirpur Mathelo Abdul Khaliq Wagan told local newsmen that the raid was conducted on information that trader Naranjan Kumar, who had been kidnapped along with his driver Farman Leghari from Khanpur Mahar road last week, had been kept in this village, but the criminals fled from the scene.
