RAWALPINDI, Nov 30: The All Pakistan CNG Association has rejected a proposal made by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin for a countrywide closure of CNG stations for two months.

The association said in a statement on Sunday that 2.1 million vehicles running on CNG would come to a halt if the stations were closed.

Every year, the government carries out gas load management from Nov 15 to Feb 15 during the peak of winter. This year, winter is not yet harsh and it is expected that the load management period would be extended till the end of February.

During winter, the share of gas to CNG stations is fixed at around 11 per cent, industries get 29 per cent and the lion’s share goes to domestic consumers.

The association said the government was giving lowest priority to CNG stations. First priority is given to domestic consumers, followed by independent power producers.
