KARACHI, Nov 29: Two-year-old bay filly, Royal Salute II, which won The Neario Stakes on last weekend, is on course to make it two on the trot should she win again in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

She edged past After Shock by Neck under rider Arshad to post her maiden win in the handicap race restricted for two-year-old colts and fillies.

Six runners are in contention for honours in the fifth race to be run over five furlongs with Royal Salute II enjoying an edge over others. She is likely to be chased by filly Magnificent Baby who was beaten by some three-and-a-half lengths by the then Royal Salute. Slight amendment has been made in her name by adding II as, according to officials, another horse was registered in the same name at Lahore.

Three-year-old chestnut colt, Sayeen Jee, is our fancy to land the day’s feature event by repeating his last outing performance. He galloped to a magnificent 11 lengths victory in the last run.

His form is a true indicator that he will go all out and oblige the punters by registering another fluent win.

Those who come in reckoning to pose him challenge in a field of seven barring last minute withdrawls, are Baby John and Spice Of Arab.

In the next race which also serves as a supporting event, Sayeen Jee’s stablemate Sugar Sweet is tipped to get the better of opponents by stretching her winning run.

She is likely to be chased by Invazor and The Reyan.

Three-year-old chestnut colt Giranari, is poised to claim the opener while Sindh Malook should atone for the previous loss by prevailing over rivals in the next.

Colt Mushki, chestnut Catch It and mare Silent Love should dominate the last three races.

A card of eight races has been drawn for the day’s meeting. The first race starts at 12.00noon.
