Three activists acquitted
HYDERABAD, Nov 29: A judge of Anti-Terrorism Court Mirpurkhas on Saturday acquitted for lack of evidence three activists of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz of charges levelled against them in a case of blowing up railway tracks.
The accused Mazhar Bhatti, Muzaffar Kalhoro and Syed Asghar Ali Shah were arrested by Tando Adam police after a railway track was blown up on Jan 1, 2004 in the area.
They were confined in a Hyderabad prison and their trial was held inside the jail.
The defence counsel of the accused, Nisar Durrani, said the court acquitted them over lack of evidence.
He argued that the accused were among the missing persons and constitutional petitions seeking their recovery had been filed in high and apex courts.
He termed defective the identification parade carried out to point put the culprits and said the foot-tracker claimed to identify their footprints after a delay of two years.
