KARACHI, Nov 28: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Habib Bank Limited (HBL) reached the semi-finals of the NBP Junior Hockey Cup after winning their respective matches at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) on Friday.

In yet another high-scoring, one-sided encounter, NBP thrashed Punjab 13-0. NBP didn’t give Punjab enough time to breathe when they scored one goal after the other.

Centre-forward Haseem Khan (3rd, 15th and 51st min), right-in Rizwan (19th, 24th and 61st min) and right-half Yasir Shabbir (33rd, 59th and 66th min) scored hat-tricks.

The remaining four goals came through left-in Imran Ahmed (38th and 46th min), fullback Mohammad Atiq (7th min) and right-out Zohaib Ahmed (9th min).

Meanwhile, the HBL-Karachi match, played under floodlights at the same venue, saw HBL winning by 7-0.

The bankers’ centre-forward Azlan Khan, who scored as many as seven goals in yesterday’s match against Balochistan, got another hat-trick (29th, 37th and 43th min).

Scoring was opened by fullback Raana Zubair in the 16th minute. Right-out Adeel (39th min), right-half Shahbaz Ali (50th) and right-in Asad Hussain (54th min) were the other scorers.
