HYDERABAD, Nov 28: Police have arrested four alleged kidnappers, including a policeman, in kidnapping for ransom cases but their accomplices were still at large. A car, part of ransom money and some weapons were seized from their possession.
Hyderabad DPO Ghulam Nabi Memon told journalists that the four accused were Wali Mohammad alias Wali, Nawab Nohani, Noor Mohammad, Ali Hyder Noohani. They were arrested from Noor Khan Chang village in the Hatri area following a tip off by the FIA. Police laid a siege of the village and arrested them. The absconding accused included Mithal Khoso, Waseem Jarwar, Qurban Jatoi and Ali Hassan.
The DPO said that those arrested were involved in the kidnapping of Ali Khawaja s/o of businessman Aslam Khawaja. He was kidnapped a few months ago and later released.
An amount of Rs12,5000 (part of ransom money), a car, one Kalashnikov, a pistol and live bullets were recovered from them.
Khawaja kidnapped from Qasimabad police station area was said to have paid Rs3 million as ransom. But police claimed that he paid Rs500,000.
DPO said that a university student Ajay Kumar was also kidnapped by the same gang and interrogation in this regard was under way because they had taken Rs1.3 million as ransom for releasing him.
He said that the gang comprised 10 members with separate responsibilities.
One group kidnapped people, second kept them in captivity while the third received ransom.
