Dec 12. park road: The Lahore High Court on Friday restrained the authorities from demolishing a petitioner’s property for the construction of the Jallo Park Road.

Justice Hafiz Tariq Nasim also directed a law officer to ensure that the petitioner’s property would not be demolished unless the court decided so. The judge also issued notices to the district officer (revenue), the executive district officer (revenue) and the Punjab Highway Division XEN for Dec 16. Petitioner Fatehullah submitted that respondents intended to widen the Jallo Park Road by demolishing his property. He pointed out that there was a vast distance between his property and the present Jallo Park Road and a very wide road could be constructed without touching his property.

He pleaded that due to some political opponents and influential persons of the vicinity the respondents were bent upon destroying his property. Mr Fatehullah said that respondents claimed that a notification had been issued in 2007 for acquiring his land and they were taking action according to the said notification.
