KARAK: Six kidnapped tribesmen shifted to secret location
KARAK, Nov 28: Six tribesmen of the Shawa Wazir tribe, who were made hostages by a local group a day earlier, have been shifted to undisclosed location on Friday.
According to sources, talks between the group – Gurguri Islahi Tanzeem – and the political administration, and elected representatives remained inconclusive.
Members of the group erected barricades on the Indus Highway at Rangeenabad Chowk on Thursday and disembarked six tribesmen from the vehicles coming from the Wazir area.
Naib nazim union council Gurguri, Hukam Badshah, told Dawn that members of the group did not take elected representatives of the area into confidence in this regard and were engaged in negotiations with the Wazir tribe on their own.
He said that they had time and again told members of the group not to take law into their hands by seizing flour trucks of the Wazir tribesmen, which the group claimed were being smuggled to Afghanistan.
“It was not their duty rather it was the duty of the government functionaries to stop flour smuggling in the region,” the nazim said, adding that the group was not ready to listen to them in this respect. —Correspondent
