KHAR: 3 militants, woman killed in Bajaur

KHAR, Nov 28: Three suspected militants and a woman were killed and many injured when security forces bombed suspected positions in different areas of Mamond and Nawagai sub-divisions on Thursday night and Friday, officials claimed.
Troops also used artillery and mortars against militants’ positions. Sources said a mortar shell hit a house in Nawagai, killing a woman.
The forces also claimed to have taken control of many areas in Nawagai and established checkposts. Sources said, more than 30 families have fled the area.
In another development, volunteers of Salarzai tribe set up checkpoints along the border to block entry of militants from Afghanistan. They also started search operations at these points, and burnt houses of local militants, reports said on Friday.
Meanwhile, forces and militants clashed in Lakaro area of the adjacent Mohmand tribal region on Thursday night, after militants attacked a checkpost, sources said, adding troops fired artillery from Momad Gut and Ghalanai and repulsed the attackers. No casualty was reported.
AFGHAN CURRENCY RECOVERED: Security forces have recovered Afghan currency worth eight million and Indian-made medicines from different areas of Bajaur Agency.
A press release issued on Friday said, the Frontier Corps (FC) personnel conducted search operations in Lowi Sam and Zor Bandar areas of the troubled region and recovered Afghan currency and huge quantity of Indian-made medicines.
