Shujaat calls on Azhar

Published November 28, 2008

LAHORE, Nov 27: In a bid to further firm up his hold on the PML-Q, Chaudhry Shujaat Husain on Thursday called on Mian Azhar, whom he had once unceremoniously ousted from the party presidentship, at the latter’s residence.

After silencing the rebels within the party, at least for the time being, the Chaudhrys from Gujrat are trying to cultivate all old Leaguers who can add to their weight.

According to a party press release, Mian Azhar offered his cooperation in keeping the party united. The two leaders also agreed to re-energise the party after the defeat in February elections and resolved to activate all party leaders for this aim.

The press release claimed that Mian Azhar eulogised the services of Shujaat Husain for serving the party effectively and keeping it united. In return, Shujaat also praised Azhar for “always working for the betterment of the party and making it popular among the masses”.
