TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 27: On the call of the Pakistan Medical Association’s local chapter, all private and DHQ hospital doctors observed a protest day on Thursday over alleged misbehaviour with the DHQ hospital medical superintendent and the deputy medical superintendent by environment secretary Dr Zafar Nasrullah.
They wore black armbands and held a protest meeting with PMA President Dr Afzal Duggal.
The secretary had visited hospital on Wednesday and found washrooms filthy. He got the MS and the DMS locked in the washrooms for 10 minutes.
FATAL ACCIDENT: Former district council vice-chairman Altaf Gadhi’s younger brother Aftab Gadhi was killed and his two friends were injured when their car collided with a tractor-trolley on Rajana-Samundri Road on Thursday.
Aftab and and his friends were on their way to Faisalabad by car when it met with an accident a few kilometers short of Rajana.
Aftab died on the spot while the other two car occupants were shifted to the DHQ hospital from where they were referred to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad.
KILN ISSUE: Brick kiln owners have rejected the government’s fixed wages for kiln workers of Rs442 per 1,000 katcha bricks.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Brick Kiln Owners Association district president Akram Hafeez and others said some so-called labour leaders were instigating the workers to go on strike, but they did not know that most of workers were earning Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 in a month through old rate of Rs300 per 1,000 katcha bricks and they were quite satisfied.
