ISLAMABAD, Nov 26: A home shooting range helped Pakistani marksmen bounce back slightly enabling them to claim two gold medals in team and individual events while the Indian shooters maintained their supremacy grabbing four gold medals in the fourth South Asian Shooting Championship held at the Gun Club of Pakistan on Wednesday.

Khurran Inam, from Pakistan defended his gold medal title in the skeet men’s individual event scoring a marginal one point lead against his rival shooter Allen Danial from India. Khurram scored 134 out of 150 to claim the gold. Danial scored 133 to claim silver while his compatriot S. Singh tallied 132 to win the bronze.

Pakistani marksmen had an eye out for the skeet shooting event when they claimed a gold medal in the team event scoring 328. It was an outstanding display by Mohammad Shafique, Raza Muneer and Khurram Inam, as they performed well in the qualification event also.

India took a silver scoring 325 followed by Bangladesh as they scored 308 to claim a bronze.

In the 50m rifle 3 x 20 position women’s individual event Lajja Gauswami from India grabbed a gold medal scoring 664.3 as her compatriot Heema KC scored 658.4 to claim a bronze. Tajeswani Sawant scored 651.3 winning a bronze.

Indian team claimed a gold medal in 50m rifle 3 x 20 position women’s team event as they posted a good 1,687 on the points table. Pakistan grabbed silver scoring 1,650 while Bangladesh won a bronze with 1,636.

In the 25m centre fire pistol men’s indivudal event Indian shooter Omkar Singh, won a gold medal with a lead of three points ahead of his compatriot Vijay Kumar who scored 580 winning a silver. Pushpendara Singh, took a bronze scoring 578 from India. Indian team also commanded the 25m centre fire pistol men’s team event when they took a gold medal scoring a peerless 1741 while host Pakistan claimed a silver scoring 1709. Sri Lanka finished with a score of 1482 grabbing a bronze. India is now on top of the medals table claiming 46 medals followed by Pakistan with 20 medals. Bangladesh is at number three with 10 medals followed by Sri Lanka with 6 medals.
