JACOBABAD, Nov 26: A gang of dacoits looted Rs30 million cash on Wednesday from the National Bank of Pakistan at Lal Shah Naro in Dodapur near Garhi Khairo.
The Rs30 million cash was being brought from the Jabobabad branch to the NBP Ghari Khairo branch when intercepted by a group of armed men.
Manager, NBP Garhi Khairo branch, Mr Rahoojo said on phone that the cashier Mansoor Ahmed along with three police guard was coming from Jacobabad in a taxi and was intercepted by bandits near Lal Shah Laro. The bandits held them hostage at gunpoint, snatched Rs30 million and fled.
Mr Rahoojo said that the Operation Manager, Abdul Latif Brohi had gone to Dodapur police station for lodging an FIR.
Meanwhile, 20 sheep were stolen from a dairy farm in Brohi Colony near the National Highway in the jurisdiction of Saddar police station.
Shepherds took out a rally against the theft of 20 sheep and blocked the highway for three hours and burnt tyres which led to suspension of traffic on Sindh-Balochistan Road. Protesters raised slogans against Saddar police.
Police wanted to talk with shepherds but they refused. Nazeer Ahmed Mengal, Mohammad Siddique, Hafiz Jan Mohammad said that bandits took away 20 sheep from the dairy in early hours.
We informed Saddar police immediately who came after half an hour and followed the footprints, he said. When they reached near a village, thieves opened fire and an encounter took place.
